Water is an extremely important feature on the MannM Railroad. You can see in the plans how significant water is in the design. There are four water features on the railroad: water wall, finger rock, and the two main falls. The main waterfall feeds 130' of creek bed that splits in two directions. One half goes directly to the lake and spills over the RhB line. The other half travels around the layout stopping at the pond before continuing to the lake. Below, you will find pictures of the construction and the current state of the water features.

Main Waterfall
Here it is in its current state. Years of work are the difference between this picture and the one to the right.

Creeks
View from the top of the waterfall. This is the shorter of the two creeks that travels along the back edge of the layout. Again, quite a difference the years make.

At the end of the waterway, the water will enter the collecting pond.

This is the second creek. A smaller collection pond can be seen at the end of the waterway.

After a brief stop at the small collecting pond, the water will travel on towards the lake at the end of the picture.

Lumber Mill Falls
Another water feature is the bubbling stream located in the lumber area.

Collection Pond

Construction....
PVC pipe was used to get a feel for the size and shape of the waterfall. The cement blocks below are for Main 1 and Main 2

The cinderblock frame was constructed to support the falls

The water wall is on the left

Plastic, steel, and cement make up the base. Mulasticoat water proofing material was added on top of the cement

Assorted bricks and scrap stepping stones will give the water a path to follow during the fall. A final layer of cement and rock will cover the brick base.

Summer 2009 progress

Construction....
The water on this course will be traveling at a much quicker pace, and will have the look and sound of a rushing river.

A unique feature of this course is that the water will break over one of the train lines.

The water on this course will make a slow journey all the way around the front of the layout.

Construction
The water will originate at finger rock and trickle down to the main creek.

Water Wall
This water feature is attached to the main waterfalls. In the future, the white pipe will feed water to the new water wall that will be constructed.
